I get an error when trying to play offline MP or SO.

Post by Skorch951 »

So i've heavily modified almost all of the .cfg army files, and when playing campaign or great battles everything works fine, but when I try to play offline MP (with the trainer) it gives me this error:

I've just gotten back into this game, but before I remember modifying the values, speeds, damages, and ranges for almost all of the army units in the game's cfg files to make things more interesting. If I could, I would just find the original .cfg file for the mortar, but I have no idea how I even have any of the base extractions to this game, or any access to the config files at all.

I need to know where I can find a clean install that includes the config files, and also an explanation of why I get this error when trying to play SO or MP. I've tried downloading many different versions of this game, but all my effort has been wasted because the files are nowhere to be found, and I really like editing the army units.
All help is appreciated!! :)
For referrance, the folder i'm talking about is located for me in: Army men Rts>base>objects>army

  1. Here is a link to an installer for vanilla AMRTS without any mods or maps, ripped straight from the install disc:
    viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1985#p11379
  2. If you wish to extract or compile .x files, then you can use the DrPack utility. Instructions on how to install and use this utility are found on the download page.
  3. Your error is because the mission you are attempting to play does not contain (or include) a projectile required by a unit. The offending projectile "army.proj.mortar" is the projectile launched by both the mortar man and Shrap. The projectile itself is defined in the mortar man's .cfg file, which means you must have modded it and inadvertently deleted it's code. I can't get any more specific than this as the log file and crash report do not provide very much information. If you do have access to the obj_army_mortar.cfg file, then you should make sure that the following code is found somewhere inside:

    Code: Select all

    // PROJECTILE DEFINITION
    CreateObjectType("army.proj.mortar", "Projectile")
    {
      MapObj()
      {
        GodFile("army_mortar_shell.god");
        GenericFX()
        {
          Add("ProjectileObj::Trail", "weapon.mortar.proj");
          Add("ProjectileObj::Hit", "weapon.mortar.exp");
        }
      }

      ProjectileObj()
      {
        ProjectileModel("ArcTrajectory");
        Explosion("army.exp.mortar");
      }
    }
    Once you are sure this code is present, then you should also make sure that your .cfg file is being included by the game. You can do this by including it within the types.cfg or types_mission.cfg files found in the mission's files. To do this, simply add ones of these lines of code anywhere in said files:
    • #include "obj_army_mortar.cfg"
    Note that any line(s) of code that begins with two forward slashes: // are considered comments and are skipped over by the game.
If you continue to have any problems, do not hesitate to ask for help!
I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.

I checked the cfg file on the mortar, everything seems to be in place, and I have done a fresh new install of the game, but which .x/.x-e files do I need to extract in order to find the army cfgs?

base.x sorry for not saying so. :">

types.cfg and types_mission.cfg are in the mission .x file.

I'm having a bit of trouble using DrPack. I'm not entirely sure how I'm supposed to be using this. I renamed base.x to base.zwp and tried unpacking it, but all that happened was it created AMRTS.zwp on my desktop.

I've never heard of this error before. Make sure DrPack is installed correctly and make sure that you are not attempting to use DrPack cross drives. The .zwp you are attempted to extract must be located on the same drive that DrPack was installed on.

If you like, you may also attempt to use the archaic exe.exe program that everyone else likes to use, although if that doesn't work either I can't help you on it since I don't use it myself.

Thank you very much :) I ended up just opening up cmd.exe and manually doing it myself, i've got a clean copy of all the cfgs now. I really appreciate your help, you have a wonderful x-mas =)
