i5 2nd Gen vs Phenom II x4 955

i saw benchmarks on the internet that i5 2nd gen will outperform even the phenom II x6 but why do i feel like my phenom II x4 955 pc outperforming my i5 2410m 2nd gen laptop???
the i5 is running @ 2.30 ghz and has turboboost technology...

Maybe its just the computer your running it from itself. I'm sure you know the ram, hard drive and programs installed will give you different experiences. Since your not technically benchmarking, its more user experience. Then again, I wouldn't say its fair to compare a laptop cpu with a desktop cpu. Laptops are designed to put out less heat, so you know what that means.

my laptop is running win7 home basic and pc is running ultimate.
i think this is the problem
