Wait back up, you were able to modify the english.dat file without crashing the game? Can you explain how?

I made sure:

1. To not insert text.
2. To overwrite the vanilla version's text with a hexeditor (e.g. Frhed)
3. That my new text does not exceed the length of the overwritten original text.
4. &, for aesthetic reasons, to use NULL / 00 when my new text was shorter than the overwritten original text.

Of course, english.dat can be edited very carefully with something like a HEX editor. I always have recommended against this however, since it can be dynamically changed say by multiple authors who want their own language keys. And also it of course only supports English. But seeing as this is a sort of stand-alone / total conversion mod... I suppose it's okay this time. Anyway, going to be trying this out next week, I'll make sure to come up with some real feedback this time around.
I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.

Just want to say that while playing through the mod on my own, neither of these two instances resulted in a crash. When reporting a crash, make sure you include the actual crash reason from your log file. You can recognize where it is by the first [ E X C E P T I O N ] it throws, for example:

Here, I've included where it give the Message, line 5. What you've submitted is memory access stuff, which isn't much help unless you are actively viewing the game in memory, and even then in the very instance that it crashes.

Note that if the first exception message you receive simply says

Code: Select all

Type: ACCESS VIOLATION
then it is most likely a random crash, or if not then submitting the error handler will not help very much, as it doesn't say anything beyond the memory things I just explained.
