Everyone's so concentrated on the graphics...
To me, the only way graphics can be bad is if you can't tell what's going on, but sometimes, they do that on purpose. So it's pretty rare. Bad graphics = Last level of Pac-Man. Exceptional graphics are taking unique ideas, and using them to fit a theme. Borderlands used outlines to give it a "cartoon" kind of look, less serious. I find these graphics somewhere in between.
