Unable to launch the game

Whenever I launch AMRTS, 99% of the time it is a black screen with the windows loading icon. It stays like that forever and the only way for me to get out of it is to sign out of the machine.

You mean the busy cursor? If the crash isn't consistent, try deleting your settings.cfg file and trying again. You can also post the log file here to help us understand the game's crash better.
I'm not really a hardware problem guy though, so I'm sorry in advance if I'm little help here...

What version of Windows are you on? I am on Windows 10 64bit and it works with no problems but you can try to change the compatibility mode and see if that works.
Right click on the AMRTS launch icon
Click Properties
Compatibility tab
Check the Compatibility box and try Windows 7 or something else.
If all fails, I would uninstall the game, use a registry cleaner to clean out any left over files then reinstall it. That usually works.
