A Closet Full of Plastic

Post by TommyCD1 »

Hello again. While practicing making single player mini maps, I created this closet map with the livingrm world which looked quite nice, so I fleshed it out into a real multiplayer map.

Download link

Extract to your Army Men RTS root directory.

Two player map. This map is very small, both bases are almost as close as a pair on the map Doubles. In addition to Sarge, you will also start with Scorch. I added him in order to help give this map a little twist to set it apart from being a simple and tiny duel map. I chose Scorch because he is a fairly good at dealing with early game rush units, he isn't a direct copy of Sarge like Vikki, and he also does not hard counter himself or Sarge like Bullseye does. You start with a plane wreck and remote control to mine, with a battery and zorg to assist you as well. In between the bases, there is a water gun and a 9volt battery. I have also used the night lighting settings from the Special Operation 'Midnight Snack'. Ever since I saw it, I have to say that I have fallen in love with how it looks! Hopefully this map can be used for some shorter length games.

I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.

How did you do that, the objects and props appear on the map?

The map doesn't look bad. I'd probably play it.
:-)
I'm not saying I have good maps and that I'm a great player. I'm giving into that the most of my time.

I used the AMRTS Studio instead of the DR2 one.

EDIT: If you're referring to the mini-map, j3rry had a good suggestion of taking a screenshot of the prop from a top-down perspective, and then shrinking that screenshot and pasting it into your map. I used that method for my Temporary Walls, and Red Mulch Garden maps. For this map, I also borrowed some existing art from the campaign livingrm missions.
