Greetings, Extreme Fighters!

It am I, Secg (like "sedge"; IPA: /sɛd͡ʒ/; enPR: sĕj), here again!

After years of balancing life, work, and modding, My Heroid 1.1 mod is finally ready to be released.

Acknowledgements:
  • Credits to 3DO & Pandemic Studio's former staffs for creating & publishing this amazing game;
    to Arisen for tips on how to make additional Armor Types.
    to TommyCD1 for many useful instructions on how to make Advanced Squad Control, Expand Unit Display, adding Special Operation Missions and Intelligence Files, and countless more.
No need to install, just download the whole 7z file Army Men RTS Heroic 1.1, extract it into any Drive, open the extracted folder Army Men RTS Heroic 1.1, click on the application Army Men RTS Heroic.exe and ENJOY! :SWEET:

Some Other Tidbits:
  • All generic Army units & defenses now use the "Random" TargetStyle, meaning that players can bait enemies into attacking high-health units like tanks or heroes, encouraging players to outmaneuver each other;

    Players can now create & control 8 squads, numbered from 1 to 8;

    Early Campaign missions shall still be Easy-Peasy ;) ; yet later ones shall be progressively Harder 8) .

    The unlocking orders of all GB & SO missions have been changed.
    Many Medal requirements had been changed; for examples, in the Campaign mission S10 "Baths of Glory", you must keep all your heroes alive instead of destroying all Guard Towers as in the vanilla version

    A few objectives have been changed; for example, in the SO rescue mission "Hostage Situation", player will have to escort the non-heroic Medic Jeep instead of the heroic Sarge to the hostages and use the Medic Jeep to guide the hostages to the extraction point:

    You must issue for Mortar Man & Shrap explicit attack orders, otherwise they will just stand still;
    All Heroes are much tougher & stronger 8) (except Hoover) :-(( ;
    All Heroes now have "hero" armor type, making them highly resistant to generic army units' weapons; however, in "micro-missions" (without base buildings), like S03 "A Few Green Men", S05 "It Came From the Basement", S10 "Baths of Glory", etc. heroes will take TWICE as much damage >:) from enemies as they do in "macro-"missions (with base buildings).

    The Generic Sniper gets outranged by :S: Bullseye;

    To make counter-units match each other's tiers:
    *Minesweepers are built from Super HQ.
    *AA guns now require Super Duper HQ.

    Minesweepers & Radio Operators cost both Plastic & Electricity.

    Pillboxes now consistently outrange Tanks, but will still lose to Tanks in 1on1 fight (by a pretty narrow margin tho)
    Tanks' Shells only deal 25% damage to Infantry & 20% against Heroes (that still does not mean a Bazooka man can 1v1 a tank & win; it only allows massed Bazooka to defeat massed Tanks more easily; on the other hand, Riff will easily defeat a Tank 1on1);
    Each Halftrack, Tank & Chopper costs 3 Command Pts, making vehicle-massers reach their unit limit much quicklier :lol: .

  • Fixed a game-crashing bug when loading Campaign Mission S05 "It Came From The Basement" - Credits to dmarijan for reporting.
Friday 19 January 2024
  • Fixed a bug which caused the Secret Background to be unlocked earlier than intended.
  • HOTFIXES: Fixed a bug in Campaign Mission "S10" - Baths of Glory which make the Green & Tan teams allies instead of enemies. - Credits to dmarijan for reporting.
    Fixed a bug in GB Mission "sandbox" - Sandbox Shenanigans which make the Green & Tan teams allies instead of enemies.
    Fixed a game-crashing bug in Special Operations Mission "rocket" Blast Off!
  • Substituted the better-saturated Secret Background's GameCube version for the greyed-out PS2 version (which shall still be kept in the folder client > p > shell). Thanks to TommyCD1 for posting it.
  • HOTFIX: Fixed a bug which prevented Intelligence File 83 from being properly unlocked.
  • HOTFIX: SO mission "beach" Sandy Breach - Fixed a bug which crashed the game when any Green unit entered any of the three "bomb-threat" region.
  • A few purely aesthetic changes to missions GB "attic" Blind Pass & SO "rescue" Hostage Situation
Saturday January 2024
  • HOTFIX: Fixed unlocking conditions of many Intelligence Files: a. Finishing GB mission "garden" Garden Siege shall properly unlock intelligence files 49, 50, & 81; b. players shall need to earn gold medals, instead of just silver, to unlock the last 16 intelligence files
  • HOTFIX: Temporarily disabled both download links. Fix the accidentally corrupt objects.cfg of GB missions "garden" Garden Siege. Shoutout to dmarijan for sending me an old version with the incorrupt objects.cfg. Download links enabled again!
  • A few modifications to missions: GB "attic" Blind Pass & SO "rocket" Blastoff.
  • Replaced the "Skateboard" intelligence file with the "Air Attack" Boomerang found in worlds > yard
  • HOTFIX: Fixed a bug which made Sarge invulnerable and deal massive damage.
Sunday 21 January 2024
  • HOTFIX: Fixed a bug which crashed GB mission "garden - Garden Siege"
  • A few aesthetic changes to GB mission "garden - Garden Siege"
  • Increased the paratrooper's movement speed from 40 to 45.
Monday 22 January 2024

Mission 10 - Baths of Glory - bugs:
-All map revealed
-Tan enemies not interacting (just ants)

I've achieved personal record in this mission - finished under 2 minutes ;)

Apology for the bug-ridden Heroic 1.1 mod

I, Secg, apologize to Extreme Fighters for not having playtested my Heroic Mod 1.1 enough and, as a result, having released a bug-ridden mod.

Having to, at 35, deal with lack of sleep, family matters, difficult & entitled customers at work, sky-high rent, and a surgery in the near future has really been taking a toll on my mental health.

I could always have delayed the release in order to playtest and fix bugs more, so releasing this bug-ridden mod is still inexcusable.

Don't worry about it. There are 31 missions to test with this mod after all, and an entire interface. I plan on playing next week while I work on a studio guide, but I'll be sure to be thorough as I try out everything. Bugs and sometimes straight up mistakes happen all the time, it's why there are teams dedicated entirely to playtesting after all. =))
I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.

Well, actually :-B the convoy model was created by @Traffic_Accident for use with an old version of one of j3rry's unit expansion mods I believe. But I was allowed to borrow it from both parties as a sufficient placeholder for the convoy model until the actual Pandemic made mesh can be ripped from a console version. The raw mesh shouldn't be difficult to get, but I haven't really tried in a while.
I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.
