Beach Derby from Army Men: World War

Post by TommyCD1 »

This map is from Army Men: World War. There are three maps, the first is a regular map, second is a King of the Hill map, and the third is a Node Control map. There is a new unit, the flamethrower, because he is in Army Men: World War but not in Army Men RTS.

Download link

Extract to your Army Men RTS root directory.

All three maps are for 4 players. Like in Army Men: World War, players start with 5,000 plastic but NO electricity. All four player spawn in the south of the map, being separated by stone walls. These walls cannot be flown over by air. Several peachy toys and electric sources lie scattered on the beach to the north, and the northern forest holds some 9volt batteries and more plastic sources. There is a garden lamp in the north to fight over, unless you play the king of the hill version. To win the node control ruleset, you must capture all five nodes on the map. These nodes will be marked on your minimap and will notify everyone upon capture. To capture a node, simply have at least one unit stand next to it without interference by opponents.
  • A node will change to the color of it's current owner.
  • The barracks can be upgraded by scrolling the build menu or by pressing 'u'.
  • Music used is from Army Men: World War.
  • The Flamethrower does 10 damage per 0.3 seconds. So he is 66% better than a Machine Gunner.

The map is on the look of super. I haven't played it yet.
But I want to ask. What program did the walls do?
That's your custom god file, isn't it?

I'm not saying I have good maps and that I'm a great player. I'm giving into that the most of my time.

That's right. I made the wall model myself in 3D Studio Max 8 and then imported into a .god file using the dr2 meshviewer.

UPDATE: 04/14/2023 - Beach Derby

Post by TommyCD1 »

The same update as last time has been released for this map.
  • Compressed music .wav files into .mp3 files. Filesize is reduced by around 80%.
  • Increased gain for several tracks, so they should be of equal volume to the vanilla music tracks.
  • Moved the music files into the main .x archives. Previously I thought the .x-e archives were meant for large excessive files, such as audio, to help the game load better or something. I know this to be incorrect now.

Man I played this AMWW map so many times as a kid. Good times. How terrible that game's collision hitboxes and pathfinding seemed lost to me.
