how to extract an .x/.x-e and how to create an .x/x-e
get exe.exe from http://www.4shared.com/file/dgeCzEAH/exe.html
download it to the folder that contains ur base.x (most likely C:\Program Files\3DO\Army Men RTS)
go to command prompt (most likely in Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt or in C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe)
type in the path to the folder that contains ur exe.exe starting with cd\ instead of C:\ (most likely cd\Program Files\3DO\Army Men RTS) and press enter
then type exe.exe
this shows u the usage
to extract base.x type exe.exe(the file name) x(extract) base.x(the file u r extracting) extractedbase\(the folder u r extracting to)
example: exe.exe x base.x extractedbase\
to extract base.x-e type exe.exe(the file name) x(extract) base.x-e(the file u r extracting) extractedbase2\(the folder u r extracting to)
example: exe.exe x base.x-e extractedbase2\
to extract any .x or .x-e file inside a folder type exe.exe(the file name) x(extract) client\p\shell.x(the path to the file u r extracting relevant to the exe.exe file) client\p\extactedshell\(the path to the folder u r extracting to relevant to the exe.exe file)
example: exe.exe x client\p\shell.x client\p\extractedshell\
to create base.x type exe.exe(the file name) c(create .x file) -r(include sub directories) base.x(the file u r creating) extractedbase\(the folder u have the files for base.x in)
example: exe.exe c -r base.x extractedbase\
to create base.x-e type exe.exe(the file name) c(create .x-e file) -r(include sub directories) base.x-e(the file u r creating) extractedbase2\(the folder u have the files for base.x in)
example: exe.exe c -r base.x-e extractedbase2\
to create any .x or .x-e file inside a folder type exe.exe(the file name) c(create .x file) client\p\shell.x(the path to the file u r creating relevant to the exe.exe file) client\p\extactedshell\(the path to the folder u have the files for shell.x in relevant to the exe.exe file)
example: exe.exe c client\p\shell.x client\p\extractedshell\
Notes:
the reason u dont need -r for shell.x is because there r no sub directories
u cant have spaces in ur commands
example 1: exe.exe c client\p\shell.x client\p\extractedshell\ YES
example 1: exe.exe c client\p\shell.x client\p\extracted shell\ NO
example 2: exe.exe x client\p\shell.x client\p\extractedshell\ YES
example 2: exe.exe x C:\Program Files\3DO\Army Men RTS\client\p\shell.x client\p\extractedshell\ NO
no, u cannot just open double click on the exe file.
i probably make some mistakes so please feel free to reply with mistakes
