Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
I have some questions about the new AMRTS Studio by David and other things.
1. How to fix black mini map in studio?
2. Is there any way to edit relations of team in studio?
3. Is there any way to rotate a object degree by degree?
4. How to edit a objects position using X Y Z?
5. What if I dont Zip any object?
6. When I play the mission after replacing S01.x or others, it just completes and says I lost, Why?
7. At last, please someone, kindly teach me, how to create cinema intro step by step.
Thank you. I hope anyone can answer these. (Specially TommyCD1 or David)

Re: Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
1. The mini-map is currently broken somewhere inside the AMRTS source-code itself. You'll have to wait until either David can debug and fix it himself, or someone can come up with a work-around solution. For now, your mini-map will remain blacked out during editing. However keep it mind it will still be updated properly when saving and will show corretly ingame.
2. The studio does not currently have console command support yet, so the way you would change team relations is by editing the game.cfg file.
3. Degree precision is not currently possible. The best you can do this is simply edit the objects.cfg file to modify direction manually. Otherwise, it's better to simply rotate objects by selecting them, then holding ALT + Left Mouse.
4. You can select an object while using the object editor brush bound to the 2 key. Then, once selected, you can drag a prop anywhere you like. You can also adjust rotation using ALT or height using SHIFT.
5. Zipping an object is what makes it solid and conform to the ingame tile grid. If an object is not zipped, it can be walked through, can be seen through, and it will also not apply its footprint to the terrain.
6. Most likely your victory/defeat objectives have faulty conditions. Make sure they aren't being satisfied immediately upon starting the mission. A common mistake is setting a "lose all units" objectives before the game has time to spawn units on a team.
7. I do not know how to do this, as I have yet to work with it. The best I can offer is the DR2 manual.

2. The studio does not currently have console command support yet, so the way you would change team relations is by editing the game.cfg file.
Code: Select all
CreateTeam("Green", 0)
{
Color(94, 242, 65);
Relations()
{
With("Green", "Ally");
With("Cow", "Enemy");
With("Tan", "Enemy");
With("Explosive", "Enemy");
With("Trainz", "Neutral");
With("Ant", "Enemy");
}

I may not make the best maps, or be the best player, but I put a lot of time, effort, and care into my stuff. That counts for something, right? No.

No, but I check here multiple times everyday, so this is the best way to ask me or others questions about the game.

How the Pandemic Studios added beds, chips, blockobuildings, etc. in the mini map? I don't understand. Please explain. Also, how to actually edit the Y position of objects using Shift?

Re: Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
All of the offical mini-maps were drawn by hand by an artist.
Click on an object to select it. Then, while hovering over the object with your cursor, hold SHIFT and LEFT CLICK and move the mouse up and down.

Re: Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
Can you tell me how can I write like, (if Tan buildings and units are destroyed (except mines), then let Green win) in Objectives? Also, how can I write, If Green buildings and units are destroyed (except mines), then let Green lose. I will be happy if you explain what is Objective, how to write and run Objectives, and where to write Objectives. At last, I wanna know that, is it possible to edit any object's Hitpoint in the editor? For example, in singleplayer, there is a mission where the HQ has 400 hitpoints except 2000. Thank you.
Re: Problems in AMRTS Studio by David
The user manual for Dark Reign 2 goes over creating basic objectives for single player missions such as winning or losing when all units are dead. I'd recommend reading over it, since everything said there also applies to Army Men RTS.

I'd recommend simply downloading the manual since the online version doesn't seem to load the ToC correctly...
As for mission specific unit changes, inside the base.x file there are .cfg files that define the stats and properties of each unit in the base game. If you copy that unit's .cfg file into your mission's working folder, where game.cfg and objects.cfg are, then you can edit that file and have its changes applied only for that specific map. This way you can have an HQ that only has half health, or so forth.

Is there any way to stop lag in multiplayer when there are almost 5000 troops created? Please answer.
Also, how can I select all units of a team in Studio?
